Alan Kyeremanten's decision to resign from the NPP unwise – Kwamena Bartels

The Former Interior Minister, Mr Kwamena Bartels has described the former Minister of Trade and Industry, Mr Alan Kyeremanten decision to resign from the New Patriotic Party as an unwise move.

According to him, Mr Kyeremanten had taken the worst decision he could ever take in his political life.

Speaking in an interview at the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Headquarters in Accra, he said “I feel sorry for him. As a politician, this is the end.”

He stressed the need for Mr Kyeremanten to have used all the laid down processes in the NPP to ensure his grievances were addressed before exiting the party however, he failed to exhaust all those options.

“In every party, you have all these little skirmishes. When they come, we address it according to the laid down processes,” he said.

On whether the party could resolve the issues between it and Mr kyeremanten, he said the NPP would not allow such behaviour to continue for a third time as he urged the party to allow him to move on.

“It has happened twice we won’t allow it to happen thrice. The party should beautifully accept his resignation,” he explained.

Meanwhile, Mr Kyeremanten on Monday announced his resignation from the NPP and decision to contest the 2024 general elections as an independent candidate.

Mr. Kyeremanten's reasons for resigning were that the NPP had made it abundantly clear that his services and contributions to the Party were not appreciated and that his continuous stay in the Party would create further tension and division, which would be an exact replay of circumstances that led to his decision to resign from the Party in 2008.
