Dr. Bawumia "Reasonably Hopeful" for Victory in NPP Flagbearer Elections

Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia expressed modest optimism for victory in the ongoing flagbearer elections for the New Patriotic Party (NPP). Speaking to journalists, Dr. Bawumia stated that he is "reasonably hopeful" about his chances in the election.

Dr. Bawumia, who occupies the second spot on the ballot sheet, revealed that he had "actively engaged with the grassroots, visiting all constituencies and delivering a message of hope to break the eight-year political pattern".

Despite his own restrained assessment, some members of Dr. Bawumia's campaign team have predicted a landslide victory for the Vice President, with percentages as high as 75% in certain scenarios.

This declaration follows the release of results from the NPP delegate elections in the United States, where Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia garnered 77% of the votes out of 208 cast, leaving the closest contender, Kennedy Ohene Agyapong, with about 22%.

All candidates in the flagbearer elections have pledged to accept the results, demonstrating their commitment to the New Patriotic Party and their shared aspiration to break Ghana's historical eight-year political pattern.

The outcome of this election will have a significant impact on the NPP's quest for victory in the 2024 general elections.
