On May 12, 2024, Manhyia Palace, the esteemed seat of the Asante Monarchs, was the attraction when it hosted a spectacular display of global cultures interwoven in vibrant hues, celebrating the beauty of unity in diversity.

The grand finale of the series of events marking the 25th anniversary of the Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu’s enthronement, the magnificent ‘Akwasidaekese’ durbar, captivated with its splendour and excitement.

It was a kaleidoscope of colours, at “Dwabirem”, forecourt of the Royal Citadel, as traditional chiefs, seated in full regalia, under a canopy of giant multi-coloured umbrellas, amidst the reverberating and pulsating sounds and rhythms from the “Fontomfrom” and “Mpintin” drums, the “Atenteben” and “Ntahra”, awaiting the entry of the celebrant.

It was as though the popular kente was the dress code, with most people including President Akufo-Addo, himself, in different designs of the traditional cloth.
