Artist Edem allegedly kills a woman in a motor accident, put before court 

Afro beat artist, Denning Agbeviadey Anthony, Edem Goget’em, has been arraigned before the Kaneshie District Court presided over by Nana Abena Owusu Amenyo for allegedly knocking down and killing an unidentified woman.

The said incident is reported to have occurred on Sunday, December 10 2023 at about 2 am, when the musician, was returning from a television show.

He was charged with two counts of careless and inconsiderate driving and negligently causing harm and is currently on bail.

Edem’s plea was not taken during the hearing of the case at the Kaneshie District Court.

He was however granted bail in the sum of Fifty Thousand Ghana Cedis with two surities.

The facts of the case state that, on December 10, 2023, at about 2 am, the musician, who was driving a Honda Touring Salon Car had occupied the middle lane of the George Walker Bush Highway, while driving from Abeka Junction towards Spintex.

It is said that on reaching a section of the road, a few meters from Dimples Roadabout he knocked down an unknown female pedestrian believed to be in her forties who had emerged onto the highway from the right side.

The victim who sustained serious injuries was rushed to the Police Hospital.

She was however pronounced dead on arrival by the medical officer on duty.

The body of the woman has been deposited at the Police Hospital Morgue for preservation, identification, and autopsy.

Edem is scheduled to reappear in court on February 15, 2024 .

Investigation into the incident continues.
