Bechem-Techimantia-Akumadan Road Project completed

The Ministry of Roads and Highways has announced the completion of the 40.4km reconstruction of the Bechem-Techimantia-Akumadan Road Project
The road runs in the South-North direction from Bechem in the Ahafo Region through Dwomo and Techimantia all in the same region to Akumadan in the Ashanti Region.
The project included specific provisions for various urban and peri-urban settlements along the road corridor, encompassing Bechem, Dwomo Techimantia, Akobro, Twapease, Subriso, Sranso No. 2, Saniso No.1, Saniso Zongo, and Akumadan, ensuring improved accessibility and convenience for residents.
According to the Ministry, the reconstruction effort is part of measures to deal with traffic congestion within the Akumadan township. This involved the creation of a new bypass from a green field, redirecting traffic to exit at Afrancho, a town located after Akumadan on the Kumasi-Techiman main road.
Furthermore, to enhance the quality of the road infrastructure within the Akumadan township, the original alignment has gone through rehabilitation. This included the repair of potholes, followed by the application of a 50mm asphaltic concrete overlay, ensuring durability and longevity of the road surface.
