Committee meeting ahead of 67th Independence Day Anniversary

The Director of Operations at the Presidency, Dr Lord Commey, is asking all political parties to support the committee responsible for organizing this year’s independence day celebration scheduled for Koforidua, the Eastern Regional capital.

This is to ensure a successful and memorable celebration. He was speaking at a committee meeting in Koforidua to plan towards the anniversary celebration. The meeting had participation from the National Celebrations Planning Committee, made up of Institutional representatives, Local Organizing Committee as well as members of the Steering Committee.

The idea was to dialogue and plan properly to ensure that the Eastern Region delivers and displays its diverse culture. The Director of Operations at the Presidency, Dr Lord Commey, said President Akufo-Addo decided to rotate the celebration of Independence Day and it is now the turn of the Eastern Region, the home region of the President.

He charged the public to be patriotic and not politicize the celebration. He welcomed all political parties and the media to come on board.

The Eastern Regional Minister, Mr Seth Kwame Acheampong, promised the Regional Coordinating Council’s support for a successful celebration.

The 67th Independence Anniversary will be officially launched on 15th February 2024.
