Demonstration by Sports Journalists against GFA and Sports Ministry

Ghana’s sports journalists are up in arms. They are demanding accountability in terms of an explanation for Ghana’s poor showing at tournaments. The group has planned an open protest on February 14, 2024, on the situation.
By this demonstration, they seek to question the authorities, namely the GFA and the Sports Ministry, regarding the abysmal performance of the national team in tournaments.
They demand immediate action to be taken to ensure improved performances in major competitions.
Ghanaian sports journalists have obtained a police permit to organize a nationwide demonstration in a civil manner against the Ghana Football Association (GFA) and the Sports Ministry.
Notable figures such as Saddick Adams, also known as ‘Sports Obama’, Patrick Osei Agyemang, popularly referred to as ‘Countryman Songo’, and Veronica Commey are leading the demonstration. Additionally, Nana Yaw Kesse, Odiahenkan, and others have joined the cause.
Speaking after the consent of the police, Listowel Mensah, a sports journalist, said he was happy that the police were interested in the demonstration. He emphasised that, the demonstration was not about hating or fighting, but just a peaceful walk to present a petition concerning their interest in sports.
