Deputy Agric Minister and MP for Nanton wins Parliamentary primaries


Deputy Minister for Agriculture in charge of Livestock and incumbent Member of Parliament for Nanton contituency in the Northern Region, Mohammed Hardi Tuferu, has been retained as NPP’s parliamentary nominee for Nanton in the 2024 general election. He won 220 votes to beat his contender who polled 210 votes with one rejected ballot. The MP believes the NPP will emerge victorious if party members put in the maximum efforts to keep the seat on December 7, 2024.
Former National Nasara Coordinator, Kamal-Deen Abdulai, who lost by 10 votes to the MP, promised to support the MP to retain the seat and break the eight.
Meanwhile, the incumbent MP for the
Mion constituency, Abdul Aziz Ayaba won by polling 344 votes against Deputy Chief Executive Officer of the Forestry Commission and former Tamale Chief Executive, Musah Superior with 132 votes. In the Zabzugu constituency, the incumbent MP, John Jaba Benam lost by 175 votes to Aliu Fawaz with 263 votes.
The election was peaceful across three constituencies except for the Yendi constituency where there are reports of some skirmishes.
