Ejisu By-Election: We’ve not sent macho men to Ejisu – Nana B

The National Organizer of the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP), Henry Nana Boakye (Nana B), has refuted claims that the party has a hand in the presence of ‘macho men’ at the Bonwire MA School in the Ejisu Constituency.

There were earlier reports from the camp of Kwabena Owusu Aduomi, an independent parliamentary candidate in the Ejisu by-election, that the NPP has sent in ‘macho men’ to the Bonwire MA School to mar the election.

Addressing these allegations, Nana B stated the NPP is confident and assured of victory and will do nothing to impede their own victory.

“As you can see there is calm here and everyone is voting here. The NPP is poised for victory and since you came here have you seen any macho men here.

“NPP is for Ejisu and there is no way the people will vote for an Independent Candidate because if that happens it means there is hope for the people of Ejisu….All these projects being done here is because the people belong to NPP and they are aware of that”, he said.

Voting commenced smoothly at 204 polling centres in the Ejisu constituency where a by-election is been held to choose a new Member of Parliament (MP).

The electorate is expected to end voting later today in an exercise to elect a successor to the late MP; John Kumah following his death on March 7.

Though there are six people contesting, the election is a two-horse race between the New Patriotic Party (NPP’s) candidate, Kwabena Boateng and former NPP MP, who is now an independent candidate, Kwabena Owusu Aduomi.

The other aspirants are Esther Osei (CPP), Beatrice Boakye (LPG), Gabriel Agyemang Joseph (Independent) and Attakorah Joseph (Independent).

There is heavy security deployment in the constituency to ensure peace.
