Elikplim Akurugu preaches religious tolerance ahead of 2024 general election

The 2024 NDC Parliamentary Candidate for Dome Kwabenya in the Greater Accra region, Elikplim Akurugu is preaching religious tolerance ahead of the December 7th general election.

According to her, despite the country’s religious diversity which presents a potential for violence, Ghana has another opportunity to demonstrate to the world, it is a peaceful country.

She reminded members of the Muslim community about the importance of maintaining peaceful coexistence before, during, and after the December polls.

“Together, let us ensure that the fabric of our national discourse is woven with threads of understanding and respect, preserving the peace and unity our beloved country before, during and after elections,” she said.

Speaking at the Eid-Ul-Adha prayers in Dome-Kwabenya, Madam Akurugu reiterated her support and that of John Mahama for the anti LGBTQ+ bill and called on the clergy and all Muslims to ensure that pressure is brought to bear on the President and the ruling party to sign the bill into law.

“We are saying that this is a national concern, and the President must give it a national response as early as possible by signing the bill so that the process can continue,” she stressed.

She also educated the gathering about the policies of the NDC’s flagbearer, John Dramani Mahama, especially highlighting the benefits of a 24-hour economy.
