Ghana Association of University Administrators to Call off Strike

The collaboration between the leadership of the Ghana Association of University Administrators (GAUA) and the Ghana Tertiary Education Commission (GTEC) has terminated in an accord, prompting GAUA to initiate measures to suspend its extensive strike across the nation.

The strike was in response to what it termed, the negligence of the government towards the union’s terms of conditions.

The National Labour Commission (NLC), in its pursuit of fairness and harmony, took into account a portion of the union’s concerns.

It however, advised all parties to assemble with an intention to settle any remaining matters, and to furnish a comprehensive progress report no later than February 14, 2024.

A memorandum of agreement, inked by GTEC and GAUA, was made public on Thursday, February 8.

Notably, the GAUA and GTEC have come to a resolution, deciding to withdraw their case from the National Labour Commission.

In accordance with the memorandum of agreement, both parties have signaled their dedication to address grievances as they arise.
