Guru NKZ to Contest for SRC at University of Ghana

Ghanaian rapper Maradona Yeboah Adjei, better known as Guru NKZ, is ready to race for a seat in student leadership at the University of Ghana.

Currently studying Political Science and Information Studies, he has decided to throw his hat into the ring for the SRC position, aiming to tackle the pressing issues plaguing the university community.

In an interview with TV3, Guru highlighted the urgent need for practical solutions to address the challenges faced by students, including transportation woes and the lack of a dedicated campus TV station.

Inspired by fellow musician Samini’s successful stint as SRC President at GIMPA in 2022, Guru sees an opportunity to merge his musical prowess with student leadership, marking an exciting intersection of music and governance if he clinches the position.

Curious to gauge student sentiments, RGGNEWS caught up with some University of Ghana students for their take on Guru’s aspirations.

Final year student Susan Asare questioned Guru’s track record over the past three years.

Godslove Narh who is also a level 400 student raised concerns about the feasibility of his policies, particularly the proposed Legon TV station amidst accommodation challenges.

Moreover, level 100 student Morea Darko emphasized the distinctions between GIMPA and Legon, cautioning against directly comparing Samini’s administration to the dynamics at Legon.

On the other hand, level 300 student Michael Aidoo offered insights into the potential keys to Guru’s success, suggesting that political intelligence and well-defined policies would be critical factors thus he shouldn’t depend on his popularity.

With Guru’s bid for an SRC position stirring conversations and expectations, all eyes are on the upcoming election as the campus anticipates the dawn of a new era in student governance.
