KATH CEO Highlights Staffing Challenges and Equipment Shortage

Professor Otchere Addai-Mensah, CEO of Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH), has given details about staffing challenges and inadequate equipment at the facility.

At a meeting with Finance Minister Dr Mohammed Amin Adam and his team as part of their tour of the hospital, Professor Addai-Mensah said urgent action must be taken to address these issues.

Professor Addai-Mensah revealed that over 200 nurses had left the employ of KATH in the past year, further denting staff strength and posing a challenge to the hospital’s operations.

He said it was important to allow authorities to replace the numbers to maintain the quality of service delivery and patient care.

He further stated that the hospital lacks adequate equipment across various departments, complicating its ability to provide the needed healthcare services.

Professor Addai-Mensah urged the government to prioritize retooling efforts to address these equipment shortages, particularly considering KATH’s role in serving twelve regions.
