Prosecution, in the case, involving self acclaimed businessman, Yahuza Osumanu, accused of robbery, says, it had filed its second batch of disclosures with witness statements against Osumanu, who allegedly robbed some individuals including the wife of the late former vice president Matilda Amissah Arthur. A State Attorney Amanda Awadey, on Tuesday morning, told the High Court that the state also intends to file further disclosures. The accused is facing 26 counts of robbery and money laundering and has been denied bail.

The facts of the case are that, on December 5, 2023, at about 4am, the Tesano Police Division received a distress call from the Amissah-Amissah home, where Mrs Amissah Arthur complained about a robbery at her residence in Accra. The accused had fled by the time a team from the police arrived at the scene. It is alleged that Yahuza Osumanu demanded money and valuables and robbed Mrs. Amissah-Arthur, of various currencies. The accused allegedly also made away with a gold watch valued at 20 thousand cedis and necklaces with a value of five thousand cedis. The prosecution led by State Attorney Amanda Awadey, also told the court that the accused, allegedly assaulted Mrs Amissah-Arthur by constricting her neck and hitting her head repeatedly on the ground while demanding for more property. Mrs Amissah-Arthur is said to have lost consciousness. After regaining consciousness she realised Osumanu, had run off with whatever goods he picked up. The prosecution continued that Mrs Amissah-Arthur called the police guard on duty at her residence and asked him to look out for the accused. The guard spotted the accused as he was escaping from the house. He pursued the accused person who abandoned a safe he was carrying but managed to escape. The police later obtained CCTV footage from the crime scene where Yahuza was identified. He is alleged to have been on the police wanted list for his involvement in robberies at Cantonments, Airport Residential Area, Ridge and Tesano. Other victims include famous architect David Adjaye.
