Spare Parts Shortage to disrupt Kenya Airways schedule for Holiday Season

Kenya Airways has informed travelers that its current flight schedule may experience disruptions in the coming weeks mainly due to challenges in the aircraft spare parts global supply chain.

In a statement issued on 8th December 2023 on its website and signed by its Managing Director & CEO, Allan Kilavuka, the carrier disclosed that these challenges have resulted in extended ground time for aircraft servicing.

“These challenges are leading to extended ground time of our aircraft for maintenance”, which “may also lead to grounding one or more of our aircrafts in line with our commitment to the highest level for safety and reliability of our operations.”

“We anticipate that these circumstances may persist for approximately two weeks, and we want to thank you in advance for your understanding and patience during this time” he added.

Kenya Airways however, assures that it is working tirelessly to minimize these disruptions and advise that travelers check regularly for updates on any changes to flight schedules.

Kenya currently serves over 50 domestic and international destinations worldwide, including Europe, Africa, the Middle East, and Asia.

The airline was founded in 1977 by the government of Kenya and quickly developed and grew by acquiring aircrafts for its fleet of Boeing and Embraer planes. It transports over four million passengers per year.
