Tariq Lamptey Confident in Black Stars’ 2026 World Cup Qualification Hopes


Black Stars defender Tariq Lamptey is upbeat about the Black Stars’ capacity to qualify for the 2026 World Cup, which will be co-hosted by the United States, Mexico, and Canada.

The defeat to the Comoros placed the Black Stars under pressure to perform well in their subsequent games of which they responded to the situation with two all important wins against Mali in Bamako and Central African Republic.

In an interview with 3Sports, Lamptey stressed the need to focus on each game and work harder to attain their goals.

Ghana’s qualification campaign started with victory against Madagascar and defeats against Comoros.

Ghana now sit second in group I with nine points after 4 games played in the qualification process.

The 23-year-old, switched allegiances to Ghana in 2022 after playing for England’s youth teams.
