Tema Motorway Reconstruction Commences


Reconstruction of the Accra-Tema motorway is underway by Maripoma Enterprise Limited.

The 19.5-kilometre stretch of road was constructed under the administration of the first President of Ghana Dr. Kwame Nkrumah and up till now has not undergone any major rehabilitation.
The Minister for Roads and Highways Mr. Kwasi Amoako-Attah on Tuesday, January 2 2024 visited and inspected ongoing preliminary activities for rehabilitation of the road.
Maripoma Enterprise Limited, an indigenous construction company has started clearing the road alignment, building site camp and also mobilizing equipment and necessary logistics to begin work.


The reconstruction premised the Minister to urge the contractor to “maintain excellent traffic management measures in order not to create unnecessary inconvenience to the motoring public.” The Minister and his team inspected the ongoing drainage projects at Tema Community 11 and 12.

Mr. Kwasi Amoako-Attah said the Accra-Tema motorway project is the initial phase of the expansion plan. He further mentioned that the second phase will extend from Tetteh Quarshie to Apenkwa, while the third phase will span from Apenkwa to Neoplan.
Mr. Kwasi Amoako Attah guaranteed that the project will be carried out efficiently and requested the removal of any billboards that have been erected on the road and said that it is expected that in 2024, there will be a significant advancement in road infrastructure with the completion of various projects.
