We cannot participate in something that does not factor us- Gimpa Law student

A student at the GIMPA Law School, Joshua Worship Frimpong has asserted at the Youth Democracy Forum on February 29, 2024, that meaningful youth participation requires addressing the pressing needs of young people.

To him, without recognizing and resolving these issues, youth engagement lacks significance.

Joshua Frimpong highlighted the common sentiment among the youth, questioning not only “what can we do for our country” but also emphasizing “what can they also do for us.”

He drew attention to the youth-dominated unemployment rate, emphasizing the importance of addressing such challenges as the youth embody innovation and hope.

Quoting Kofi Annan, “No one is born a good citizen; no nation is born a democracy. Rather, both are processes that continue to evolve over a lifetime. Young people must be included from birth. A society that cuts off from its youth severs its lifeline.” Joshua Frimpong underscored the continuous evolution of citizenship and democracy, urging that young people be included from birth.

He advocated for solving the challenges faced by the youth, stating that a society disconnecting from its youth jeopardizes its lifeline.
