Ban on political activities in Asansteman during celebrations

The Asanteman Council heads have restricted political activities at the seat of Asanteman throughout its festivities.
They have warned politicians not to attend the event wearing any political clothing or symbols and pleaded with them to stop politicizing it.

This was announced by Nana Otuo Siriboe, the chairman of the planning committee, at the Golden Stool 25th anniversary event.
“We know we are in an election year. In as much as we want everyone to join the anniversary celebration, we are cautioning people to desist from wearing political party paraphernalia during the event. We don’t want anyone to take undue advantage to create unnecessary tension during the event”, he stated.

He further discredited media rumours that the Palace will prohibit funeral activities.

“Funeral rites would not be banned throughout the event” he said.
Speaking about subsequent programs, he mentioned the Kuntunkuni durbar on 8th February, 2024, the symposium on the Sir Garnet Wolseley war (“Sagrenti” war) and book launch on 26th February, 2024, among others.

He concluded by urging all stakeholders to support in making the anniversary a success.
