Food inflation causing a decline in inflation rate- GSS


The Ghana Statistical Service, in a statement says food inflation is the major factor for the drop in inflation rate.

As the year comes to an end, there has been a consistent drop in inflation rate, recording 26.4% in November.
The decline represents an 8.8 percentage point decrease from the 35.2 percent recorded in October 2023.
This marks the fourth consecutive drop since August, 2023.
In Consumer Price Index (CPI) data released on Thursday, December 14 by the Ghana Statistical Service , year on year, the food inflation stood at 32.2 percent and non-food inflation at 21.7 percent.
From the statement, food inflation is the main cause of the decrease in the rate of inflation in Ghana as food inflation reduced from 44.8% last month to 32.2% this month whiles, non- food inflation has dropped from 27.7% from last month to 21.7% this month.
