Empowering Women Leaders: Insights from the Ark 25th Anniversary Public Lecture


In a panel discussion at the Ohene Konadu Auditorium commemorating the 25th Anniversary of The Ark Foundation, three distinguished women leaders shared invaluable insights into their leadership philosophies and journeys.

Kosi Yankey Ayeh: Nurturing Mindset and Network

Kosi Yankey Ayeh, CEO of the Ghana Enterprise Agency, was emphatic about the pivotal role of mindset, rooted in upbringing and navigating challenges.

She underscored the importance of building robust networks and challenging ingrained narratives, drawing inspiration from her grandmother’s transformative educational background.

 

Maame Tiwaah Addo-Danquah: Versatile Leadership and Resilience

Maame Yaa Tiwaah Addo-Danquah, Executive Director of the Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO), focused on the importance of adaptable leadership styles, combining authority with empathy as circumstances dictate.

She stressed the universality of challenges and the need for resilience, gleaned from diverse mentors and personal experiences, including financial management lessons

She stated, “I know how to manage money well and this I picked from my grandmother”

 

Jean Adukwei Mensa: Servant Leadership and Resolute Faith.

Jean Mensa, Chairperson of the Electoral Commission, advocated for servant leadership, fostering collaboration and consensus among teams.

She rejected the notion of challenges being gender-specific, attributing them to policy and values alignment.

With unwavering faith and preparation, she emphasized overcoming obstacles and seizing opportunities, drawing inspiration from her supportive mother.
Despite distinct leadership styles, the panelists echoed a common theme of resilience and determination in overcoming obstacles.
Whether confronting societal perceptions, managing stress, or adapting to unforeseen circumstances like the COVID-19 pandemic, their speeches inspire and empower aspiring leaders.
Through preparation, reliance on faith, and leveraging support networks, these exercises exemplify leadership excellence
