Former President John Mahama Urges Churches to Bring Light to Politics

Former President John Dramani Mahama has laid emphasis on the significance of churches in Ghana playing a more positive role in politics.
Addressing the 9th Regional Council meeting of the Ashanti East Region of Assemblies of God, Ghana as a Special Guest of Honour, he urged the Christian community to illuminate the gospel to suppress the darkness in politics.
Mr. Mahama, a member of the Assemblies of God, also advised politicians to heed God’s call as they pursue their ambitions.
At the same event, the General Superintendent of the Assemblies of God, Ghana, Rev. Stephen Wengam, called for peaceful, free and fair elections in December.
Leading the audience in prayer for this cause, he delivered a sermon titled “Send Light Because There Are Still More Lands To Be Possessed,” challenging Christians to serve as beacons of light in the world. Rev. Wengam also urged pastors to lead their congregations in soul-winning and church planting, emphasizing that this is the primary mission of the church.
Former President Mahama was honoured with an award for embodying Christ-like values in politics.and
