Small arms commission and partners refurbish 3 police armouries

The Small Arms Commission and its partners have refurbished and handed-over three armouries to the Police Service in Accra.
A police armoury is an important component in ensuring national security. They provide law enforcement agencies with the necessary tools and equipment to maintain public safety.

In the heart of every law enforcement agency lies a stronghold dedicated to upholding the principles of safety and order. The police armory is a secure facility that serves as the backbone of national security. The project in Accra was in three phases; destruction of obsolete and unstable bombs and ammunition, capacity building of armourers and armoury refurbishments. The objective of the renovated armouries at the Accra Region, Nima and Kpeshie Divisions is to help curb the illicit proliferation of fire arms.

The use of outdated equipment remains an impediment to the service’s work in ensuring security. And the government says protecting internal peace and security is of great concern.
