France fades Belgium’s glory to secure a spot in the quarter finals

France have booked their place in the quarter finals as they managed to beat Belgium in the closing minutes of the round of 16 match.

Kolo Muani broke the deadlock in the 85th minute after his shot deflected off Jan Vertonghen,
with Les Blues advancing to take on either Portugal or Slovenia on Friday evening. It was yet more major tournament woes for Belgium though, with the remainder of the ‘Golden Generation’ falling short when it mattered most.

The final whistle blew, signifying a hard-fought 1-0 victory for the French. They had secured their place in the quarter-finals, their journey towards another Euro title continuing. Belgium, despite their valiant efforts, were left to reflect on a disappointing campaign, their hopes of European glory fading with each passing game.
