Ghanaian Balladeer Embarks on Record-Breaking Singing Marathon”

All eyes on this part of the world for a balladeer’s record-breaking attempt.

At the Akwaaba Village, right by the Kotoka Airport in Accra, Afua Asantewaa Aduonum from Ghana has set in motion her endeavour to achieve an outstanding milestone by setting a new record for the lengthiest individual singing marathon.

The expectation is for the Ghanaian singer to surpass the existing record for the longest individual singing marathon, set at 102 hours which is held by Indian Sunil Waghmare, who earned the milestone after singing for 105 hours from March 3 to March 7, 2012.

In an event covering nearly five days, Miss Asantewaa is exclusively performing Ghanaian songs in her quest to break the record. For her, this presents a valuable opportunity to showcase outstanding Ghanaian music globally.

“This is a fine opportunity to sell amazing Ghanaian music to the world,” she said.

Differing from typical music shows, Miss Asantewaa is restricted from jamming along with the songs or humming, and drumming won’t be part of the performance.

The event is aimed at  drawing  in thousands of music enthusiasts and well-wishers to the Akwaaba Village, showing solidarity with their colleagues and contributing to this historic occasion.

When she does make it, Afua Asantewaa will be another Ghanaian to have etched her name in the coveted Guinness Book of World Records and achieve endless bragging rights, recognition, endorsements and a lot more.

Currently, she has crossed her day 1 of the marathon.
