Launch of Denmark’s support for SDG 13 & SDG 16 in Ghana

Denmark says it is renewing its commitment to help Ghana achieve SDGs 13 and 16 through the provision of a grant support of 1.8 million cedis. This it says is in pursuance of its passion for promoting democracy and climate action. The one-year project, among other things, will focus on activities and dialogue leading to the 2024 presidential and parliamentary election in Ghana.

The sustainable development goal 13 and 16 project will provide small-scale grant support to national and local civil society organizations with the objectives of strengthening democratic dialogue, civic space, freedom of speech, human rights and inclusiveness in the upcoming 2024 Presidential and Parliamentary elections.

It will also strengthen youth engagement and increase climate change awareness. To bring this agenda to fruition, the Embassy of Denmark and its Grant Manager, West Africa Network for Peacebuilding (WANEP) signed a Memorandum of Understanding in the 4th quarter of 2023. Denmark’s Ambassador to Ghana, Mr Tom Norring said the embassy is optimistic that the project will contribute to constructive debates on democracy and climate change.
Civil Society Organizations partnering the SDG 13 and 16 project say they will do their utmost to ensure that the objectives of the project are achieved.
