My Gov’t Seeks to Cut Public Transport Costs by 30-40% through Electric Vehicle Adoption – Bawumia

The flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia says he will work to reduce the cost of public transport by between 30 and 40% with the adoption of electric vehicles for public transportation, if elected as President.

According to him, public transport pricing formula is dominated by two key variables; the price of fuel and the price of spare parts hence the hike in the cost of public transport.

“Electric vehicles do not use petrol or diesel and spare parts are minimal. That is what will bring down the fares for Electronic Vehicles”, he said.

He added that transport fares for Electronic Vehicles will be stable and the constant and large increases in fares will no longer exist.
