Chairman of the National Peace Council, Rev. Dr. Ernest Adu-Gyamfi says it is important for politicians to place priority on messages that address the needs of the Ghanaian populace.
Dr. Adu-Gyamfi in an interview on Insight on RGGNews hosted by Teye Kitcher, urged political leaders to shift their focus towards delivering convincing messages centered on improving the lives of Ghanaians, particularly the youth, and alleviating societal burdens.
He cautioned against the growing trend of monetization in politics, highlighting its effects on the democratic process.
“Monetization is becoming a general issue in this country now,” Dr. Adu-Gyamfi stated. “What that means is that we are no longer choosing people who are competent to handle the affairs of this country but rather choosing those who have the money to pay into the position.”
He was concerned that prioritizing wealth over competence in political appointments could lead to ineffective governance and hinder national progress. Dr. Adu-Gyamfi called on Ghanaians to remain vigilant.
Reflecting on the upcoming elections, Dr. Adu-Gyamfi emphasized the importance of politicians using messages that resonate with the electorate’s aspirations.
“Let us put out a message that is convincing; what do we do for Ghanaian people, what do we do for the youth, how do we reduce the burden that we carry as a people. This is the message that people should be listening to instead of following the money and things that will come along,” he added.
