NDC’s Stance on Anti-Gay Bill Parochial – Richard Ahiagbah

Mr. Richard Ahiagbah, the Director of Communications of New Patriotic Party (NPP), has taken a strong position on the Anti-Gay Bill. He argues that the National Democratic Congress (NDC) is making unnecessary arguments and unfairly portraying the President as lacking sensitivity.

In an interview, Mr. Ahiagbah emphasized that President Akufo Addo has demonstrated sensitivity by waiting for a constitutional interpretation of the issue and resisting pressure from opposition groups to rush into any decision.

Mr. Ahiagbah pointed out that the NDC’s attempts to paint the President as insensitive are baseless. He believes that once the rights of the people are confirmed without compromising constitutional freedoms, the President can support the bill.

Whiles acknowledging the contentious nature of the Anti-Gay Bill, Mr. Ahiagbah recognizes the concerns related to discrimination and the possibility of infringing upon existing state laws. He emphasizes the importance of a cautious and legally compliant approach in dealing with this legislation.
