NLC addresses demands of Striking Ghanaian Teacher Unions


The National Labour Commission (NLC) has taken action on three demands raised by Ghana’s striking teacher unions – the Ghana National Association of Teachers (GNAT), National Association of Graduate Teachers (NAGRAT) and the Coalition of Concerned Teachers Ghana (CCT Ghana).

The NLC has committed to fulfilling demands including the provision of laptops for teachers by June’s end, implementing a scheme of service in April, and expediting investigations into blocked funds by the Office of the Special Prosecutor.

In a statement from the Ministry of Employment and Labour Relations, there remains six demands, including Continuous Professional Development Allowance and Deprived Area Allowance, set to be discussed in today’s meeting at the Ministry of Employment and Labour Relations.
