NPP Parliamentary Primaries: Bantama

The New Patriotic Party, NPP’s National Secretariat has released its policies governing the conduct of its parliamentary primaries, which are set for Saturday, January 27, 2024.

From its communication, the policies had been set to guarantee the fairness and integrity of the election process in a statement dated January 22, 2024.

126 candidates from 41 seats will compete for an area on the national ballot under the NPP flag on Saturday, with the Ashanti Region set to serve as the core of the battle.

Bantama has been a one-term constituency for the past 11 years. Attorney Ralph Kwame Agyapong, the brother of Kennedy Ohene Agyapong, has entered the contest and declared his intention to defeat Francis Asenso-Boakye the current MP for Bantama who is running for reelection for a second term.

With the support of Attorney Ralph Kwame Agyapong’s brother Kennedy Agyapong, he has been drawing attention to what he would do differently if given the chance and accusing the incumbent MP of doing very little to improve the lives of Bantama constituents despite having several opportunities to serve as Deputy Chief of Staff and now Housing Minister. For this reason, he picked the form for the Parliamentary primaries to contest on 20th December 2023.

Also, the current MP for Bantama and Minister for Works and Housing Francis Asenso-Boakye secured his position within the New Patriotic Party by defeating Member of Parliament for Bantama Constituency in Kumasi, Daniel Okyem Aboagye in the 2020 general election and now hoping to maintain his seat in the constituency and has the support of the President Nana Addo Dankwa Akuffo Addo when he built a library and named it after the president for the constituency.

The final say, is for the people of Bantama, to maintain incumbent Francis Asenso-Boakye or elect a new person to contest for the 2024 general elections. The nation waits for the scheduled date Saturday, January 27, 2024.
