Work has resumed on Phase II of the Obetsebi Lamptey interchange project.
According to the Roads and Highways Ministry, the project is set to be completed in September 2024.
On Monday March 4, 2023, the Minister for Roads and Highways, Mr Francis Asenso-Boakye conducted an on-site inspection to assess progress of work.
Mr Asenso Boakye said after government’s negotiations, contractors on stalled projects, that are over 75% complete, have agreed to move to site to complete the job.
The Obetsebi-Lamptey circle was a four-pronged roundabout. Phase 1 was completed in November 2020 and inaugurated. The second phase, which involves construction of a three hundred- and eighty-nine-meter-long bridge will connect the Kwame Nkrumah interchange area to the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital and environs. The project got underway in March 2021. Due to Ghana’s external debt restructuring, the project was suspended and the original completion date of March 2023, extended.
