Odododiodio constituency MP, Nii Lantey Vanderpuye Bows Out of NDC Parliamentary race


The incumbent Member of Parliament (MP) for the Odododiodio constituency in the Greater Accra Region, Edwin Nii Lantey Vanderpuye, has withdrawn from the National Democratic Congress (NDC) parliamentary race in that constituency.

The Odododiodio constituency MP who has represented the area since January 7, 2013 has opted not to file for re-election in the NDC parliamentary primary.

During a radio interview with Accra-based Citi FM on Wednesday, Nii Adjebu Lamptey, the Chairman of the NDC Election Committee in the Odododiodio Constituency, revealed that three aspirants have submitted their candidacy for the upcoming contest scheduled for October 31, 2023.

Edwin Nii Lantey Vanderpuye, born on June 11, 1965, was the former Sports Minister. He was first elected as an MP during the 2012 elections, in which he contested against Victor Okaikoi from the New Patriotic Party.

He is an alumnus of Bechem Presbyterian Boys' Secondary School and Mfantsipim School in Cape Coast. He holds a Master's degree in Governance and Leadership from Ghana Institute of Management and Public Administration (GIMPA) and a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) degree in English, Philosophy, and Classics from the University of Ghana.
