TOR Board Refutes Union's Mismanagement Claims


The Board of Directors (BoD) of the Tema Oil Refinery (TOR) has debunked allegations of mismanagement and proposed lease deal with Torento Asset Management Group made by made by the General Transport and Petroleum Chemical Workers Union (GTPCWU).

 This follows concerns expressed by the GTPCWU regarding the state of TOR, which lead to the BoD being accused of mismanagement, and an opposition to the proposed lease deal.

 The National Chairman of the GTPCWU, Mr Bernard Owusu called for the immediate dissolution of the Board as it had failed to find a suitable partner for the TOR.

 The Board on Friday, issued a statement in response, to unreservedly condemn the allegations leveled against them by the GTPCWU and expressed their disapproval of the union's threats and dismissed the accusations as baseless, untrue, and offensive.

 The BoD regarded the union's remarks as an attack on the fundamental freedoms of its members and a potential threat to their safety.

 They conveyed their disappointment with the insults and name-calling coming from the union's executives, emphasizing that it had a detrimental effect on the Board's reputation.

 The Board emphasized that its members are highly qualified and esteemed individuals who have been diligently working to provide guidance and oversight for the company's strategy, performance, and governance.

 They reiterated their commitment to consistently acting with integrity, professionalism, and always prioritizing the best interests of the company and its stakeholders.

 In response to the allegations, the BoD has launched investigations to ascertain the circumstances surrounding the media reports. They have reassured the public that they will take appropriate action to protect their reputation.

 Also, the BoD expressed its unwavering commitment to addressing any concerns or misunderstandings among the workers and pledged to foster a safe and productive work environment at TOR.

 They called for patience and understanding from all parties involved while they diligently work to resolve the situation as swiftly and equitably as possible.
