Wave the Flag Road Trip to La Cote d’Ivoire – Maiden Edition.

The “Wave the flag road trip to la Côte d’Ivoire” has been formally launched in Accra. It came off at the level lounge on Wednesday January 10, 2024.

It is an adventurous and fun packed trip being organised by Kaya Tours – a collaboration with Nana Afua Serwaa Adusei popularly known as Shecanic. The idea behind the “wave the flag road trip” is to celebrate the unity of African countries while having fun. The trip which comes off on Friday will see patrons support the Black Stars in their effort to end their trophy drought. Shecanic says the trip is also to support the policy of visa waivers across various African countries. She said appreciates the road infrastructure, stating “Yes, it is possible because we have beautiful roads and well-maintained vehicles.” Afua Serwaa encourages the public to be adventurous “this is to empower women and particularly to encourage people to be adventurous.”

She asks “Why should I pay for a visa to Mozambique when I’m African”. “The wave the flag road trip to the La cote d’Ivoire will be a convoy of motorcycles, cars, and possibly a bus.”

Participants’ vehicles are fully covered and insured with the Ghana Police Service providing an escort. “You are covered in terms of security and this is the first time an insurance company is coming along covering a travel and tour event” she said.

“We are not sleeping in hotels but rather AirBNB apartments.” Other activities are watching of some Afcon matches including the Ghana’s matches and visiting tourist sites in la Côte d’Ivoire.

The wave the flag road trip is an 8-day trip which will be broadcast live on GTV.

Afua Serwaa, Shecanic, in an exclusive interview with RGGNEWS stated “I realized women didn’t have much representation in the automobile industry. Others who are in this space are also not proud of it so, Shecanic is here to make that change in the industry and also STEM as a space too”. This is part of her reason for venturing into the automobile industry.

Shecanic also mentioned to RGGNEWS, “We are tired of flying, our roads are beautiful, our scenes are beautiful, Africa is beautiful so we have to drive.”
