We are neutral on matter related to LGBTQ+ Discourse – National Peace Council

The Chairman of the National Peace Council, Rev. Dr. Ernest Adu-Gyamfi, says the Council has taken no position on discussions surrounding LGBTQ+ in the country.

According to him, the Council is a mediator on national issues bordering on peace and security, making it difficult for them to take a position.

“We are mediators and so if we take a position now and something comes up for us to mediate, we will have a challenge”, he said.

In an interview with Teye Kitcher on RGG News’ INSIGHT, Rev. Adu-Gyamfi revealed that although members on the council have their personal positions on the matter, it does not represent the views of the Council.

He added that the Council has on several occasions turned down invitations by individuals, groups among others to speak on the matter.

“There have been people who have come here including Embassies to get us involved, but we have told them that we are in the middle and when the time is up for us to mediate, we will come in”, he said.
