Concerns of Ghanaians over Black Stars ahead of the AfCON 2024.

The long-awaited African Cup of Nation (AFCON) 2023 is finally set to commence in la cote d’Ivoire this Saturday January 13,2024.

RGGNEWS has gauged the views of some Ghanaian football lovers about their expectations of the national team at the upcoming event.

At the atomic junction commercial station, drivers and bus shared their thoughts on the current state of the Black Stars.

According to Kwabena a passenger, he has his hopes on Ernest Nuamah, who he believes is a very prolific player but lacks enough playing time when called to the national team. He believes Ernest Nuamah along with Mohammed Kudus, would strengthen the team. He also expressed his worry on the lack of prolific midfielders to compliment the efforts of the attackers.

Also, Hayford, a bus conductor, lamented that, the players that are dedicated to the success of the national team are not called upon to play. He pleaded that Mohammed Kudus should be utilized properly on the field of play to produce the needed results.

For Kingsford Bay, an executive at the GPRTU branch at the station, he has a strong feeling that the team would meet the nation’s expectations. He was not happy about the politicization of the national team, claiming that, it has destroyed the beautiful game as compared to what he knew existed back in the day.

Bless Nuwokpor a bus driver stated that the best thing to do for Ghana’s Black Stars is to pray and cheer the team on as they represent the nation at AFCON.

Others were of the view that the President should not allow the Black Stars to play in the AFCON tournament this year, but rather build the team for the future.
