G-Met Takes GACL and Civil Aviation Authority to Court for $10 Million Debt

The Ghana Meteorological Agency has announced its intention to pursue legal action against the Ghana Airport Company Limited (GACL) and the Ghana Civil Aviation Authority over a $10 million debt.

G-Met stated that this sum represents unpaid monthly service charges accumulated over four years.

Eric Asumang, Director-General of the Ghana Meteo Service, gave details at a session with the Public Accounts Committee (PAC). He said while GACL has committed to future payments, legal measures are being considered to recover the outstanding debt.

Mr Asumang emphasized the need for compliance, stating, “I want to believe that when they call them, they will comply and that may settle the court matter. If that fails then probably legal action will be taken.”

He clarified that any resolution would pertain to current payments, not the arrears, which may require legal intervention later in the year.
