Hawa Koomson Threatens Court Action

The Member of Parliament for Awutu Senya East, Mavis Hawa Koomson, is asking the Ghana Journalists Association (GJA) to present concrete evidence supporting their claim of her connection to the assault on Cape FM journalist, David Kobina, during her vetting in Cape Coast.

The MP voiced her disappointment and disagreement with the announcement of a “total media blackout” on her by the Ghana Journalists Association. She states that it does not accurately reflect the situation at hand.

The Awutu Senya MP has threatened to institute a court action against GJA President Mr. Albert Kwabena Dwumfour, and the Association, requesting that they retract the statement of the media blackout or provide evidence proving that she certainly had something to do with the assault of the journalist.

The MP stated that she was in Cape Coast for her vetting and that after being vetted she spoke to the media but no one approached her with the issue. The primaries in her constituency prevented her from speaking on the issue earlier. However, after the election, she said the GJA’s decision was made without conducting a thorough investigation and challenged the GJA to present concrete evidence on the matter to prove her involvement, or face her in court.
