Police Service Withdraw Injunction Against #Dumsormuststop” Demo

The High Court in Accra, has struck out an application for an injunction seeking to prevent organisers of the #DumsorMustStop protest, from gathering at the Revolution Square, opposite the Jubilee House. The court’s decision, follows a withdrawal letter by the Ghana Police Service, which is the applicant. It however came up that, the applicant’s u-turn, in the matter, is as a result of the organisers decision, to follow the route suggested by the police and also have rescheduled the planned demonstration, for June 2024. The Ghana Police Service Administration, filed the application at the High Court, in Accra, for an order prohibiting actress Yvonne Nelson and two others, from holding an intended picketing scheduled for 25th May, 2024 at the Revolution Square, in Accra, to protest recent power outages in parts of the Country.

In court on Friday, May 24, the case was withdrawn to make room for the change in venue by the organizers. The Police Administration headed to Court, after the Greater Accra Regional Police Command, could not come to an agreement with organizers on the venue of choice and the time.
