Registration Opens for 3rd African Media Convention in Ghana

The Government of Ghana, in collaboration with the Ministry of Information and the Ghana Journalists Association, has announced the opening of registration and media accreditation for the 3rd African Media Convention (AMC), scheduled to take place from May 15th to 17th, 2024, at the Accra International Conference Centre. It is an event promising to be a landmark gathering of media stakeholders from across Africa.
Albert K. Dwumfour, President of the Ghana Journalists Association and Co-chair of the AMC Local Organising Committee, was enthusiastic about the convention, highlighting its significance as the African counterpart to the Global World Press Freedom Day.
Jointly initiated with African media stakeholders and in partnership with UNESCO and the African Union Directorate of Information and Communication, the AMC aims to celebrate press freedom and explore strategies for protecting media freedoms and journalists in AU Member States.
Building on the success of the 2018 World Press Freedom Day Global Conference hosted by Ghana, the 3rd AMC will assess achievements made since then. It will also facilitate networking opportunities and the exchange of best practices among media professionals, journalism students, researchers, unions, associations, editors, and representatives from the public and private sectors, civil society organizations and cooperating partners.
Interested participants are encouraged to register online before April 15th, 2024, and submit proposals for side or pre-events by March 30th, 2024. The organisers are inviting partners to collaborate in enhancing the African media landscape and look forward to a vibrant and productive convention in May.
