The Absence of Teamwork is a Deficit to our Country- NCCE Chairperson

The Chairperson of the National Commission for Civic Education (NCCE), Kathleen Addy has drawn attention to a trend of selfishness within the country.

At the 25th anniversary public lecture of the Ark Foundation, she shared her concerns regarding the pervasive competitive mindset prevalent in various sectors of society overshadowing the essence of teamwork.

The NCCE chairperson pointed out that the culture of competitiveness, ingrained in early education, has contributed to the erosion of teamwork values.

Mrs. Addy illustrated with proverbs the importance of unity and collaboration.

“If you want to go fast, go alone, but if you want to go far, go with people,” she reiterated, urging citizens to recognize the inherent strength in unity.

Another proverb she cited emphasized the resilience found in collective action: “A broomstick can break but a bundle of broomsticks cannot break.”

Moreover, the chairperson stressed that fostering a culture of cooperation is essential for overcoming societal challenges and achieving sustainable progress.
