Ghana’s First Lady Rebecca Akufo-Addo has received a doctorate degree (Honoris Causa) at the University of Professional Studies, Ghana.

She received her honorarium on the fifth session of the University of Professional Studies, Accra’s 15th graduation ceremony on 12th December 2023.

Expressing her philanthropic concerns, she emphasized her dedication to enhancing the daily lives of people in the country, particularly focusing on the well-being of women and children. “My sole aim was to bring positive change to those in need of assistance,” she stated.

According to her, her honorary doctorate is dedicated to the resilient women and children of Ghana who continually serve as a source of inspiration for her. Conveying her gratitude, she mentioned being honored alongside two other distinguished women, expressing hope for a future where a woman would hold the highest honor in the country as president. “I simply wanted to make a difference in the lives of those who needed assistance,” she said

Similar to Martin Luther King, she shared her dream of witnessing a woman president in Ghana, looking forward to a time when the title “Madam President” would be as commonplace as “Mr. President.”

In concluding her remarks, she extended gratitude to her husband, President Akufo-Addo, acknowledging his unwavering support for her endeavors.

“It has been quite a journey with its challenges and triumphs. Through it all, my dear husband the President, His Excellency Nana Akufo-Addo has been my rock and greatest cheerleader. His mentorship and insightful suggestions have presented me with opportunities to learn and grow. My success is his success as well. I am truly grateful to my husband,” she added.
