Anticipation Peaks as Germany and Scotland Clash in Euro 2024 Opener at Allianz Arena

The eyes of the football world turn to Munich tonight as the 2024 UEFA European Championships starts, with host nation Germany facing Scotland at the Allianz Arena.

The Germans appear to have found some stability under manager Julian Nagelsmann having strung together a four-match unbeaten run (W3, D1), yet three consecutive tournament disappointments prior may just have the home fans feeling nervous ahead of their curtain raiser.

Scotland on the other hand are certainly not here to make up the numbers if their qualification process is anything to go by. Steve Clarke’s men secured their place at the finals by sensationally winning their first five qualifiers including a 2-0 win over Spain but form has fallen off a cliff.

The Germans, will be aiming to recapture their glory days, boast of a formidable squad led by the experienced Thomas Müller.

Clarke hopes to become the first man to lead Scotland into the knockout phase of a major tournament as this marks their fourth appearance at the Euros.

History has it that, the first match of the Euros has seen both teams on the scoresheet in seven of the last nine editions.

This edition of the European Championship promised to be a historic event, showcasing the continent’s best footballing talents in a celebration of unity, competition, and passion.
