DVLA New Automated System Slow

Vehicle owners are unhappy about the new system that has been introduced by the Driver and Vehicle Licensing Authority (DVLA).

Time spent at the DVLA office at 37 revealed the difficulty of some Ghanaian vehicle owners and drivers trying to register their vehicle this new year.

Mr. Alexis Rafiou a motor vehicle owner complained about the new system introduced. For him, the system is slow and time consuming as compared to the manual system that has been the norm.

Mr. Andrew Kofi also confirmed the slowness of the new automated system. He added that the difficulty with the system had to do with the fact DVLA officials are asking for Importers to come and verify their identities. “I have sent the Ghana Card of the Importer who is now in Canada and they are requesting that he comes or I come with his relative and an authority note.”

“I started registering three different cars and they all have not been registered due to this hindrance.”

Dorothy Nkoyi a vehicle owner also says “ I expected the process to be easier since it has been automated now. We all know how Ghanaians rush to get their vehicles registered in the new year because they want some specific numbers on their plates but it even looks like the officer does not have the requisite knowledge on the system that has been rolled out.”

Many vehicle owners at the DVLA premises are of the view that though the old system had some challenges, it was more efficient looking at the new system and its current hiccups retarding the vehicle registration process.
