Ghana beat CAR to keep World Cup hopes alive


In a thrilling encounter in Kumasi, Ghana’s Black Stars came from behind to defeat the Wild Beasts of the Central African Republic 4-3 in the fourth round of World Cup qualifiers.

Ghana took the lead in the 6th minute from the spot kick through Jordan Ayew. Central African Republic equalized 5 minutes later through Louis Mafouta. The Central African Republic regained the lead in the 41st minute, again Mafouta increasing his tally to two on the night.

Ghana pushed for an equalizer and were rewarded in the 60th minute after Jordan Ayew found the back of the net from a cross by Gideon Mensah.

The Black Stars completed a comeback in the 62nd minute courtesy with a goal from Fatawu Issahaku.

With 21 minutes to end proceedings, Jordan Ayew netted his 3rd of the night to complete his hatrick.

Louis Mafouta also bagged his 3rd of the night on the 90th minute mark but the Black Stars were able to stand tall from the attacks.

The victory serves as a major boost for Ghana’s hopes of qualifying for the World Cup.

The Black Stars showed great character to come from behind and win the match, and they will now be confident as they move atop of the table with 9 points.
