Ghana Shines Bright at 13th African Games, Achieving Historic Medal Haul on Home Turf

With just 2 gold, 2 silver, and 13 bronze medals five years ago in Morocco, team Ghana did much better in front of the home crowd as they hosted the 13th African Games.

Ghana amassed a total count of 68 medals – 19 gold, 29 silver, and 20 bronze in the just-ended competition.
This is the country’s most successful participation since the Games’ inception in 1965, surpassing its previous best of 27 medals won at the 1973 Games in Lagos, Nigeria.

Ghana was ranked 6th, way behind Egypt which topped the table winning 191 medals: 102 gold, 47 silver, and 42 bronze.

Arm-wrestling took the Games by storm with eight gold medals. The Accra 2023 Games hosted three disciplines more than the Rabat event of 26 disciplines.
The just-ended edition brought together 5000 athletes and coaches from 54 African countries in 29 multi-sports disciplines.
