Junior Graphic Presesnts 2023 Essay Competition Winners to VEEP


Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia says the government is on course towards meeting the Sustainable Development Goals, SDGs despite ongoing global challenges. In this regard, government has over the years introduced smart policies to stay the course.

This is with a focus to invest in the educational sector to empower the youth to lead the charge. Hosting the 2023 winners of the Junior Graphic National Essay Competition at the Jubilee House, Dr Bawumia commended the Graphic Communications Group for introducing this initiative which gives students the opportunity to share their thoughts on national issues and SDGs.

The Junior Graphic National Essay Competition is an annual contest for Upper Primary and Junior High School students. The idea is to improve the reading and writing skills of students and pupils across the country while exposing them to national and global issues such as the Sustainable Development Goals, SDGs. For the 2023 edition, students were tasked to write an essay on “Creating a world free of Hunger” in line with Sustainable Development Goal 2, which seeks to end hunger by 2030.

At the end of the competition Myron Sean Buertey Adjo a former student of Southbridge Montessori School, Accra came third with Michelle Naa Ansaah Addy taking the second position, a former student of the Stanward School.

The overall 2023 winner was Griffith Nana Osafo Brako of St Dominic Roman Catholic School at Akwatia in the Eastern Region. The Managing Director of the Graphic Communications Group Mr. Ato Afful said the focus of the Junior Graphic competition is to inspire readers and give them experience beyond the classroom.

The Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia said these competitions are important for the development of the youth because it empowers them to add their voice to the national development discourse.

For his prize, the overall winner Griffith Nana Osafo Brako received an all expenses paid trip to the US, a tablet, cash prize of 3-thousand cedis and a certificate.
